Samaritan Healthcare | The Samaritan | Summer 2018

8 THE SAMARITAN Join us in welcom- ing Ethan Washburn, certified physician as- sistant (PA-C), to our Family Medicine team. By adding Washburn to our staff, we continue to expand patient access to healthcare in Moses Lake and the Columbia Basin. Washburn has lived in eastern Washington most of his life and he loves the area, the people, and our Moses Lake culture. He especially enjoys the many days of warm sunlight that let him participate in outdoor activities with his family. Washburn’s family practice care and experience span all generations— from infants to elders. In addition to years of experience in family medicine, he has also focused on treating patients with asthma and allergies and help- ing patients lead healthier lives. “I enjoy providing family-friendly healthcare,” says Washburn. “A trust- ing relationship between the medical provider and the patient is beneficial, especially when healthcare decisions need to be made.” Washburn is certified by the MEDEX Northwest physician assistant pro- gram at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Prior to earning his PA-C, he cared for patients as a registered nurse for six years in Othello. His clinical experience includes working as a PA-C in the Northwest Asthma and Allergy Center in Seattle, as well as several years in family medicine in Othello. While on rotation, he also cared for patients at Sa- maritan Healthcare, which allowed him to receive valuable experience and insight. Washburn is also fluent in Spanish (both spoken and written), which means he can connect and communicate more easily with patients whose primary language is Spanish. To schedule an appointment with Ethan Washburn, PA-C, call Samaritan Healthcare’s appointment line at 793-9770 . Samaritan Family Medicine is excited to welcome Ethan Washburn, PA-C. We are pleased to announce that Julie Weisenburg has been selected as our new chief human resources officer on Samaritan Healthcare’s senior leadership team. She also recently served as president on Sa- maritan’s board of commissioners. Weisenburg began her career at Samaritan more than 25 years ago in the billing office doing data entry be- fore becoming an assistant in accounting. She then left Samaritan to return to school at Washington State University—earning a degree in business administration with an emphasis on human resources and management. “After graduating, I headed to Seattle, but after a year of rain and gray, gloomy skies, I was more than ready to leave the city and come home to Moses Lake,” says Weisenburg. While recently serving as HR director at the Moses Lake Community Health Center, she stayed connected to Samaritan—serving on the Foundation board and the board of commissioners and ultimately being named board president in 2016. “I’ve always been attracted to Samaritan’s focus on truly caring for people—employees as well as patients,” says Weisenburg. “We have a wonderfully healthy culture throughout the organization, and I look forward to helping support the staff so they can continue to provide excellent patient care.” A Moses Lake native, Weisenburg has a longstanding connection to the Samaritan Healthcare community. “Working at Samaritan has long been a ‘family thing,’” she says. “In addition to me, my mother works at Samaritan as a dietitian tech in nutrition services, my father worked on construction here, and my brother was formerly in bill- ing and purchasing. We love Samaritan!” In her leisure time, Weisenburg enjoys spending time with her family, and she especially loves the sunshine and the four seasons.
