hospital’s second expansion that had brought it to 50 beds: “Samaritan stands as a monument to local enterprise and a recognition that nothing is too good for the sick in health.” THE BEST CARE, CLOSE TO HOME We believe that’s what community and community-owned healthcare is all about—providing access to the healthcare you need right here, close to family, close to healing, close to home. We’re building the collaborations and partnerships to ensure that you and your family have the best care available for your health—whether the needs are for cancer, stroke, or cardiac care. And we promise to continue providing that care with Moses Lake vision and Moses Lake values— care delivered to you by compassionate and highly experienced nurses, providers, leadership, and staff. Since the 1930s, we, as a community, have always had one common core value: “Unabashed Optimism.”We’re proud of that value and we continue to move forward within our shared vision to serve the healthcare needs of our region.Thank you for joining with us on this quest to provide the best possible healthcare to our area’s residents, families, and people. When Samaritan Hospital was first dedicated in 1949, Fred Radach, the chairman of the board of commissioners from Warden, declared: “This is our hospital. It’s your hospital. And I hope every person in the district comes to feel that it’s ‘my’ hospital.” His declaration still holds true today. For the past few years, we’ve been saying #IAmSamaritan ; however, looking back to our roots and ahead to our future— here’s to our amazing history, to our legacy, and to our wonderful future, together. Theresa Sullivan CEO Bold roots We were brave pioneers who settled this land and first called our city “Neppel.” In 1938, it was renamed “Moses Lake,” both to honor Chief Moses and also using the word “lake” to attract people to the area. Shortly afterward came the generation of visionaries who were determined to have a paved interstate highway between Spokane and Seattle in 1938, which would also serve to benefit Moses Lake and its residents.
