Tiena has also discovered an added bonus to her volunteer position at the information desk. “I love the close proximity to the fabulous espresso stand!” For more information about volunteering or to apply, call 793-9724 or visit samaritanhealthcare.com/about-us/volunteer . Tiena has enjoyed volunteering at Samaritan’s information desk since late fall of 2018. She fully understands and daily lives out the true definition of a volunteer—a person who “freely offers to do something or undertake a service.” In essence, Tiena believes in giving back to others. Tiena first decided to volunteer at Samaritan after her mother had a prolonged hospitalization in another state. It led her to consider volunteering close to home in Moses Lake. Volunteering has been everything she thought it would be— and so much more. “When my mom was in the hospital, the compassion and patience of the volunteer staff were humbling,” said Tiena. “I was so grateful for their support.” She feels that even though she hasn’t been volunteering for very long, she already knows how to assist and comfort others.
